CONCORD, N.C. – The woman charged with killing a construction worker while driving drunk is expected in court Monday morning.

Police say Danyel Middleton, 21, was driving near Concord Mills mall Saturday morning when she hit four construction workers inside a marked work zone.

Investigations revealed Middleton was “appreciably” impaired at the time of the crash.

One of the workers did not survive. They have been identified as Socorro Martinez, 50, of Graham.

Middleton is charged with felony death by motor vehicle, but could be facing many more charges.

She is being held at the Cabarrus County Jail under a $1 million secured bond.
