CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The news that Charlotte is likely to get a Major League Soccer team has a lot of people interested in east Charlotte.

The city is expected to make the MLS announcent Tuesday, December 17 at 10 a.m. at the Mint Museum in uptown. The city is also expected to announce that the team's headquarters and practice facility will open in the old Eastland Mall site in east Charlotte.

Lynette Hill has lived just steps from the old mall for nearly four decades. She says east Charlotte hasn't seen the growth other parts of the city have and while she's skeptical about growth from MLS, she's hopeful.

“I think that we have been pushed to the side and I would like to see them come and do something for this side- the East side,” Hill said.

Spectrum News spoke to the Charlotte Open Air Market which is held at the former Eastland Mall site on the weekends. The owner says he hasn't gotten any details from the city so he's unsure whether the market will have to move.
