RALEIGH, N.C. — They call themselves "The Cleanup Kids."
Audrey Scanlon, 12, and Gregory Scanlon, 10, started Clean Sweep, and the service organization offers people a chance to win cash when they pick up trash in their communities. The immediate goal is to encourage litter collection.

“And the long term goal is to limit litter at the source by partnering with companies, elected officials and individuals to reduce the use of disposables,” Audrey Scanlon said.
The siblings have funded the sweepstakes with their allowance.
“So, we started funding this just from our allowance basically, and then we are trying to get more donations so we can keep doing this for as long as possible,” Gregory Scanlon said.
The siblings are passionate about the environment and have been helping their parents clean up local spots for years.
“It hurts all of the animals and everything you litter. It takes a really, really long time to break down,” Audrey Scanlon said. “It's unsightly, and it's just good for absolutely nothing.”
Anyone over age 13 who picks up a bag of trash can enter the sweepstakes for a chance to win $250 cash.
