CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are looking for the suspect they say hit and killed a pedestrian Thanksgiving Day night.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Sunset Road and Beatties Ford Road.

Investigators with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department say a woman was pronounced dead after being hit while crossing Sunset Road. Police say she was using the crosswalk when the incident occurred.

The victim's name has not been released.

The suspect vehicle, according to detectives, is a 1995-2001, fire red, two-door Ford Explorer. The vehicle should also have front-end damage.

Police say the driver fled the scene and was last seen traveling on Sunset Road toward Peachtree Road.
