Katie Husband joined the Spectrum News Triad newsroom and WXLV ABC-45 in August 2014 as a reporter.

She began her career in July 2011 as a multimedia journalist at WICZ FOX-40 in Binghamton, New York. During her time there, she covered the massive flooding events from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.

She then moved into the radio news industry later that same year at Cayuga Radio Group's News/Talk WHCU station in Ithaca, New York. There she covered local government elections where the youngest mayor in the United States was elected to office.

Katie also filled in as anchor for the hour-long Evening Newswatch and co-anchored the Saturday Morning Newswatch shows. Katie loved the job but missed capturing stories with video.

In August 2012, Katie started at Spectrum News' Corning newsroom. There she covered murder trials, massive manufacturing layoffs, local agriculture growth and NASCAR races at Watkins Glen International.

Here are five other things you might not know about Katie:

  1. I was a founding member of SUNY Broome's women's lacrosse team. SUNY Broome is the community college I attended in Binghamton, New York, before transferring to SUNY Oswego.
  2. My first international trip and airplane experience was to Montego Bay, Jamaica, for my honeymoon in 2013. I was 24 years old.
  3. I have five tattoos.
  4. Through the years, I used to have hermit crabs, a guinea pig, a rabbit, two ferrets and beta fish as pets. Now I have a 2-year-old German Shepherd.
  5. I have never been to Walt Disney World.
