RALEIGH -- We are "Free Fallin'" into the weekend with the North Carolina Symphony, who's "Runnin' Down a Dream" and "Learning to Fly" as they take on the incredible works of the late great rocker Tom Petty.

The orchestra is joining forces with Singer Tony Vincent, to share this one of kind of concert, lead by acclaimed conductor Richard Carsey at the podium.

Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with Meredith Kimball of the North Carolina Symphony, for a sneak peak at this weekends performance.

For decades, the late Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has been making us sing to his hit tunes. So when looking for a lineup this year, there was no question Tom Petty was at the top of the list.

In years past, the symphony has shared the music by other rock and pop legends, like Prince, Michael Jackson and even the Rolling Stones. And this fall, they will tackle the sounds of legendary rock group Queen.

The sweet sounds of Tom Petty, played by the North Carolina Symphony, will take place through a special concert on Saturday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Booth Amphiteatre in Cary.
