HALIFAX, N.C. -- A grand jury has indicted a fourth person in a quadruple murder in Halifax County.

Twenty-four-year-old Dontayvious Cotton faces four counts of murder in the deaths of two elderly couples.

Cotton joins three others -- 25-year-old James Powell, 23-year-old Keyon West and 25-year-old Matthew Simms – who are charged with the murders of James and Janice Harris and James and Peggy Jo Whitley last August in the Glenview Community near Enfield.

Investigators believe the couples were shot by intruders at the Harris' home as they played cards around a kitchen table.

All of the men could face life in prison or the death penalty.
