ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. -- Officials are increasing the goal for the annual countywide food drive as families continue to recover from last week's tornado.

  • The goal is 50,000 pounds of food.
  • Food should be brought to any government building or library.
  • Deadline is May 19.

The original goal was 40,000 pounds but now they're challenging the community to reach 50,000 pounds.

Officials are asking you to bring non-perishable items like cerals, canned food and baby food to any government building or public library in the county by May 19.

"These families need it. They need it badly," said Rockingham County Manager, Lance Metzler. "Whatever anybody can bring to support our efforts would be greatly appreciated."
