HIGH POINT, N.C. -- An Archdale woman is facing charges after investigators say she may have tried to steal a baby from a Wilmington hospital.

  • Linda Everett of Archdale was arrested on April 17 after authorities say she may have tried to steal a baby from hospitals in North and South Carolina.
  • Everett illegally obtained access to restricted areas of New Hanover Regional Medical Center on April 5.
  • Publically on social media, Everett has denied claims that she was attempting to abduct a baby.

Linda Mae Everett, 36, was arrested in High Point on April 17 after illegally entering a restricted area of New Hanover Regional Medical Center earlier in the month.

According to the hospital, Everett presented herself at the check-in desk at the Betty H. Cameron Women's & Children's Hospital on April 5, where she was denied entry. She eventually entered patient care areas without authorization.

The SBI believes Everett has been entering Neonatal units of hospitals in both North and South Carolina and may have been looking to abduct a child.

Everett has denied the claims publicly on social media. 

She has been charged with three counts of breaking and entering and larceny. 

NHRMC says no patients were harmed or endangered.
