SOUTHPORT, N.C. -- A 28-year-old woman is dead after a camper fire in Southport early Wednesday morning.         

It happened on Anchor Village Lane Southeast around 5:45 a.m.

Fire officials say a man was able to escape through a window.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause but believe the fire may have been caused by lightning.

A dog also died in the fire.
