SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Scarlett Frisina was overcome with emotions after receiving the call that her missing teenage daughter had been located.

"Exciting. Very, very exciting to be able to get the call and couldn't wait to tell my husband," said Frisina.

Caitlyn Frisina, 17, had been missing since November 25.

Police say she left her hometown of Columbia County, Florida, with 27-year-old Rian Rodriguez.

Friday, a New York State Police investigator spotted the two in the Town of Salina and followed them to a parking lot.

According to New York State Police, the investigator along with other troopers pinned the vehicle in and apprehended Rodriguez.

Caitlyn's parents, Scarlett and Ward, caught the next flight out to Syracuse.

"We would like to start by saying how very happy we are to have our sweet baby girl with us. We had a very beautiful, wonderful and emotional reunion with her a little while ago. We are so thankful to have her back," said Scarlett.

"It's been difficult, but I have my daughter back where I know I can protect her and keep her safe as a father always wants to do," said Ward Frisina.

Police say the parents knew Rodriguez, who was a family friend and Caitlyn's soccer coach.

Caitlyn's father says he's filled with guilt. Going forward, he will be more careful about who he trusts.

"There's still people out there that try to use the system that we put in place to try and protect people. It may make me a little more cautious when I'm trusting people, but we have to love and cherish people. You have to let people in your life sometimes even if that causes getting hurt sometimes," said Ward.

"We're looking forward to a lot more time together, being able to get back home and move forward as a family," added Scarlett.
