The community is set to receive a first-hand look at a project that will link downtown Binghamton to Binghamton University.

Construction is currently underway on phase one of the 434 Two Rivers Greenway.

Phase one includes creating an enhanced crosswalk at the end of the pedestrian bridge crossing Conklin Avenue. The greenway will eventually include a 10- to 12-foot-wide trail that crosses under the Pennsylvania Avenue off ramp, down the parkway and ends at the Murray Hill Road entrance of BU.

Phase two of the project will go up for bid in late 2019, with construction set to be completed by 2022.

The project manager hopes the walkway will also create an all-around healthier Broome County.

A public hearing on the project will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at MacArthur Elementary and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Vestal Hills.
