BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Binghamton firefighters battled both flames and the cold Wednesday night.

Crews responded to a fire on Crandall Street around 11 p.m.

Flames and smoke were coming out of the top of the building, making it difficult to get to.

Firefighters fought the flames from the outside, to make sure the fire didn't spread to neighboring homes.

They say the building was vacant, but no firefighters were injured in the fight.

The cause remains under investigation.
