ENDICOTT, N.Y. — Two major projects in Endicott are green lighted thanks to this round of REDC funding.

The first includes a $75,000 extension of the Chugnut Trail along the Susquehanna River.

Construction would end near Vestal Avenue, connecting all six parks in the village.

The second project includes $129,000 in renovations to the George W. Johnson Park Carousel.

Work includes replacing aging roof rafters and windows, along with mechanical upgrades and accessibility improvements.

Officials say restoring this historic site is crucial to the village's future.

"It's become increasingly difficult to reach those standards. The carousel breaks from time to time, things happen and we're always scrambling to keep it up and running because we really want to support George F. Johnson's wishes," said Eileen Konecny, (D) Endicott deputy mayor.

The village also received $50,000 for a water pollution control study.
