It happened quickly. Campbell was evacuated, but within hours, residents were allowed back home Friday due to flooding.

But there's still much to do -- not just in homes, but at places like the American Legion, too.

"There’s thousands of items, they had 15 inches of mud on them, that have to be cleaned," said John Tschantre, post historian and assistant town supervisor. "We haven't decided how we're going to do that yet. And the floor's got mud on it, of course, after any flood."

EMA Director Tim Marshall said the first floors were fine.

"Nobody got any first floor flooding. However most of it was basement flooding," said Marshall.

It turned the American Legion basement into a pond, complete with wildlife.

"One of our other board members and I were cleaning up the water Saturday morning with a shop vac, and under the downstairs steps, I noticed there was a fish," Tschantre said.

In total, approximately 11 homes were impacted, marking one of the worst ice jams in recent memory.

''We've done ice jams in Campbell for many years. That was one of the most significant ice jams I’ve seen," said Marshall.
