BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- We’re getting an exclusive on Broome County's future treatment center.

Syracuse Behavioral Healthcare will soon provide drug and alcohol treatment services at the former Broome Developmental Center. Furniture is arriving, and crews are putting the finishing touches on the rooms.

The center will offer 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week care, including 50 medically supervised withdrawal beds. After an individual safely goes through the withdrawal process, SBH will find the next appropriate level of care.

President and CEO Jeremy Klemanski says everyone is working with a purpose.

"They all understand that the sooner this facility gets finished and finished correctly, the sooner we can start improving health for the folks whose lives are being threatened by opioid overdoses and other overdoses," Klemanski said.

The facility is scheduled to open its doors April 5, with treatments set to begin the next day.
