Norwich police have arrested two people after a child was taken to the emergency room with multiple injuries.

Marrainne Ray, 31, and 36-year-old Scott Ray, of the same address in Norwich, are charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The victim is under the age of 11.

Marrainne Ray is accused of repeatedly hitting the child in the head with a plastic brush.

Scott Ray is accused of repeatedly hitting the child in the face and throwing the victim into a wall by the hair.

The investigation revealed that the injuries happened over the past week or so, and the chief of police says the child is still under medical observation and is being monitored for a brain bleed.
