Membership in organizations like the Veterans of Modern Warfare, Veterans of Foreign War and the American Legion are on a steady decline.

The Marine Corps League has also felt the impact.

It started with six locations and they had to close two due to the lack of participation.

The vice commandant says there's thousands of veterans in the area, and he's unsure why they don't want to join.

He says the organization brings military members together while giving back to the community. He's concerned that one day they will no longer able to fulfill their mission.

"In 10-15 years, and I hate to say this, there won't be a Marine Corps League unless we get the younger people involved," said Dean Lawton, the Marine Corps League vice commandant. "Unfortunately, it's going to hurt with the other programs that we do."
