BUFFALO, N.Y. - After his team finished practice Thursday, Jason Botterill confirmed reports that the Sabres were considering trading Evander Kane. The veteran winger leads the Sabres in goals (12) and points (23) but will be a free agent after this season.

"It's been a situation where statistically, Evander's done a great job for us," said the Sabres General Manager. "We're a team that's looking for more goals, and he's scored goals. I think Phil deserves a lot of the credit for Evander, it was one of those situations where he reached out to build a relationship early in the season. Evander's come in here and performed very well for us."

The NHL's trade deadline is February 26th.
