BUFFALO, N.Y. — The first day of August marks World Lung Cancer Day.

To raise awareness, Foundation 228 brought the White Ribbon Project to Buffalo, and hosted a free ribbon building session Sunday.

The ribbons, built 24 inches tall and 12 inches wide, are signed with inspirational messages before being personally delivered to lung cancer patients, survivors, care givers, doctors and loved ones of those who have died from the disease.

The White Ribbon Project looks to change the narrative of lung cancer, saying it is no longer just a smoker's disease but a disease for anyone with lungs.
