Discover Kenmore, an annual event hosted by the Kenmore Business Association, brought businesses from the village and neighboring areas to Delaware Avenue for a day of food, fun and unique finds.

Sellers were excited to share their wares with eager buyers who browsed an assortment of offerings, from handcrafted jewelry and wind chimes to candles, greeting cards, and spice blends. There were even family-friendly attractions for kids and pets such as balloon animals and temporary dog tattoos.

What You Need To Know

  • Discover Kenmore, a fest promoting village pride and community support, was held Saturday, July 31

  • Dozens of businesses from Kenmore and surrounding areas brought their goods to Delaware Avenue

  • In addition to a good time, the event also provided an opportunity for residents to support local businesses

  • Throughout the pandemic, good neighbors have donated time and money to help businesses stay afloat

In addition to offering a fair-like experience with a variety of food trucks and activities, the fest highlighted the importance of support for local businesses, especially amid the pandemic.

Executive director of Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels Dan Wiles recounted how last year, good neighbors helped the organization care for its growing list of clients depending on their services during a crucial time.

“We found people that could do every route, every day," Wiles said. "They were the only ones people saw for that time; they couldn’t even see their families, some of them.”

As a thanks for assistance in providing essential services, Wiles and others from Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels were on hand to give out free cookies, and gratitude for those who go above and beyond to lend a helping hand.

“We had an annual appeal," he said. "We usually bring in, say, $45,000; [last year,] we brought in $75,000. I can’t thank the Ken-Ton community enough. They make it very easy for us to meet our mission, and we are a great place to live, work and play.”
