The New York State Fair will increase ticket prices and parking fees this year, fair officials announced on Friday.

Admission will now be $8 and parking will be $12, both an increase of $2 from last year’s event, though it is still lower than some previous years. Tickets were $10 as recently as 2019.

Admission will remain free for children under 12, and senior citizens 65 and older. The fair will also continue to offer free admission on Fire & Rescue Day, Law Enforcement Day, and Armed Forces Day for those who identify as being part of those groups.

Officials said the fair is continuing to restore revenues lost during the fair’s cancellation in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Fair plays an integral role as an educational opportunity for young people and as an economic engine for the region through tourism so it's critical that we continue to do all we can to put on the very best State Fair and provide fairgoers an improved experience while remaining fiscally responsible,” Jola Szubielski, director of public information for the fair, said in a statement.

The fair will announce a special one day flash sale this summer when it will offer for sale a limited number of tickets at the $6 price.

The 2024 State Fair runs from Aug. 21 to Sept. 2.
