BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Calling all Western New York history buffs. Explore Buffalo is looking for you to help with their volunteer-led tours.

More than 200 volunteers operate 70-plus walking, biking, kayaking, and bus tours throughout Western New York. If you'd like to become a tour leader, their annual winter docent training classes start in early February.

They had 19,000 people take tours last year, which is up from just about 6,000 four years ago, so the need for more volunteers is always increasing.

If you're interested, there's an informational session on Tuesday, January 9 at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo at One Symphony Circle. The deadline to apply for docent training is Friday, January 19.

Docent training will be on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. from February 3 through March 24, 2018.
