TOWN OF BENNINGTON, N.Y. — An accidental shooting of a 3-year-old boy in Wyoming County may still lead to charges.
Deputies say the child came into contact with a loaded handgun at a Tooley Road home in Bennington on Saturday.
His mother called 9-1-1 saying he was shot through the chest and shoulder area around 8 a.m.
He made it through surgery at Children's Hospital in Buffalo.
Investigators say the .45 caliber handgun was registered to the father.
No names have been released.
Potential charges are pending on the results of the continuing investigation.
