Erie County leaders are taking the fight against opioids to local high schools.

County Legislator Ed Rath met with students and parents at Clarence High School Tuesday and watched a short film called “Blink of an Eye.” The film highlights opioid addiction in Western New York.

“Prevention is about awareness, it is about education, it is about people having the capacity to understand what this threat can mean,” Rath said. “This prevention forum is all about trying to stop the behavior from ever happening.”

Rath says he wants to create an open dialogue where teens can discuss the angers of addiction so they understand what might happen if they experiment with drugs.
