The Annual Buffalo Book Fest returned to downtown printing and pressing both memories and works of art.

Dedicated to printing and the book arts, the festival showed people the hard work and effort it takes to make each piece. From a construction steam roller to a tee-shirt press, people watched while artists worked on their craft.

People visited various pressing and craft stations to create their own works of art. Walking away with an art piece and constructing it creates an appreciation for the craft.

"We spend a lot of time looking at screens and maybe even like electronic books,” said WNYBAC Program Director Rosemary Williams. “So we try to harken back to the way printing and bookmaking use to be; making things by hand, really exploring and playing with paper in that way to create something that's totally yours. "

For the last seven years the Western New York Book Arts Center has hosted Book Fest. To find out about more events visit their website at WNYbookarts.org.
