“The first time that I drove this car, it was unreal,” he said. “I thought I knew what speed was having raced the Snocross, the Motocross, done the X-Games. I thought I had a pretty good comprehension of what was going to happen, but I was wrong. This car is fast.”

After the snow bike season ended, Kirchmeyer competed at the drag racing opener in Thompsonville with a fresh car.

“I hit the throttle for half a second and everything went blurry,” he said. “I didn’t know where I was. It’s like in Star Wars and everything goes into hyperspace.”

Despite having been hospitalized for complications from Epstein-Barr in the middle of his snow bike season, using tenacity and skill, Kirchmeyer became the national snow bike champion for a third year in a row and then won his first drag race.

“From what everyone was saying, that had never been done before with a fresh car like that,” explains Kircmeyer.
