The Bills enjoyed their first day off of training camp on Sunday.

Rather than slowly getting back into the swing of things on a Monday morning, the team as a whole came out firing, especially on offense.

Let's get right into the observations from practice #5.

O Was Full Go

Josh Allen and the offense have had a really good start to things over the first week of camp and this morning was no different.

Allen was slinging it and the defense had little answer.

One of his best moments was finding Cole Beasley deep with Dane Jackson in coverage.

And it wasn't just Allen. The play of the day came from the right arm of Mitchell Trubisky, dropping a dime deep downfield to Isaiah Hodgins with multiple defenders in coverage.

You often hear that the defense is ahead of the offense at this early point in camp, but that really hasn't been the case.

Youth Movement Making Plays Up Front

Jerry Hughes absence has given more opportunity for the Bills younger defensive ends to get more reps early in camp.

Greg Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa have both taken advantage of that.

The two were getting good pressure throughout practice, including forcing a sack of Allen.

We have heard so much about the size of Rousseau and strength of Epenesa and it is encouraging to see that playing out in action on the field.

Naturally the next step is to see if their upward trend continues once the pads come on, which is expected to be tomorrow.

Run Game Response

We continue to hear more of the key pieces to the Bills run game give their thoughts on last year and moving forward.

Devin Singletary echoing what we heard from Zack Moss the other day, saying their competition is friendly, as the two have developed quite the close relationship.

Singletary also explained how he has quickly built a strong bond with Matt Breida after the two trained at the same place in Florida nearly the entire offseason.

Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll simply responded "speed" when asked before practice what Breida brings to the backfield. Daboll added that he brings "juice" that he is going to have to figure out how to utilize.

The theme around the Bills run game continues to remain the same when looking back at last season; Believing the struggles were a bit exaggerated, while also acknowledging the run game needs to be better to also help the passing game continue to succeed.

Injury Notes

Jon Feliciano appeared to hurt his right shoulder during practice and while he stayed out on the field, he did not participate the rest of the practice.

Ike Boettger was seen on the sidelines of practice, but remains on the COVID list. General Manager said this morning on WGR 550 that he expects Boettger and even Dion Dawkins back to practice by the end of the week.

Jacob Hollister is still out with a back injury.

Jerry Hughes remains on the NFI list with a calf strain.

Bills return to the practice field Tuesday morning at 10 am. Sean McDermott is expected to meet with the media beforehand at 9:15 am. Follow @JonScottTV on Twitter for the latest Bills news.
