The Bills made a statement last Sunday night inside Arrowhead Stadium. Josh Allen picked apart a Chiefs defense that had stalled him in the past.

The Bills defense showed that their incredible start to this season was not just a product of their opponents, holding KC to just two touchdowns while forcing four turnovers.

All that flipped the script from a year ago and avenged two tough losses. The same opportunity is there once again on a primetime stage.

Last season's game at the Titans was a mess before it even happened. Tennessee's COVID outbreak had the game in flux for over a week, with it ultimately moved to Tuesday night.

The Bills themselves were far from full strength. The offense was missing Cole Beasley and John Brown. The defense was without Mario Addison, Matt Milano, Tre'Davious White and Levi Wallace.

When you hear players and coaches say "different year, different team," that is more fact than usual in this instance.

Still, a blowout loss certainly still sticks with these guys and, just like a week ago, look to send a message once again that they are the top dogs of the AFC.

Let's dive into the match-up!

Allen's Redemption Tour Continues

The Titans game a year ago was the first of only a few hiccups from Josh Allen, finishing the game 26/41 for 263 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Tennessee used zone coverage a lot that night, something Allen and the Bills offense had not really seen to that point in the season. He forced throws at times rather than taking what was there underneath.

That, and the following week against KC, were pivotal lessons for Allen, ultimately making the proper adjustments to his game moving forward.

He certainly will be ready for that this time around as well as have a full compliment of weapons at his disposal, unlike a year ago.

The same can't be said for the Titans, who will be without top cornerback Kristian Fulton (hamstring).

Whose Time to Shine?

A talking point this week has been the recent lack of involvement from Cole Beasley.

He has just 3 receptions for 21 yards on 4 targets total over the last two games. That includes seeing the field Sunday night for just 22 snaps. That 39% of the offensive snaps is the second lowest total of his Bills career, next to 30% seen in last season's Raiders game.

Everyone from Sean McDermott to Allen and others have downplayed it, saying it has been a product of the game plan.

Stefon Diggs once again providing a great answer when asked about any player should handle not being on the field or as involved as they would like.

Diggs himself may lead the Bills in all receiving categories, but is not consistently producing numbers at the same level he was a year ago.

With Fulton out, Janoris Jenkins and others will now be tasked with trying to keep Diggs, Beasley, and any other of the Bills pass-catchers in check.

As a unit, the Titans defense is 21st in the NFL against the pass, allowing 264.6 yards per game. However they rank 28th in the league by allowing 7.92 yards per pass play.

Just like against KC, the Bills offense has the advantage .

Milano Returns

As I expected, the Bills choosing the cautious approach last week with Matt Milano and his hamstring injury, keeping him inactive against the Chiefs.

Even with the bye week on the horizon, Milano set to make his return Monday night.

As I noted earlier, Milano one of many on the Bills defense who didn't play in this match-up a year ago.

King Henry

There is one thing we all will forever remember about that Bills-Titans game in 2020.

Derrick Henry putting Josh Norman in a body bag with a stiff-arm.

To be fair to Norman, he was not the first to feel the wrath of Henry and certainly not the last.

The Titans are force-feeding Henry this year, already up to 142 rushing attempts, easily most in the NFL. Alvin Kamara is next with 94.

All those carries have Henry also tops in the league in rushing yards (640) and TDs (7).

After a pedestrain 17 carries for 58 yards in the opener against Arizona, Henry is averaging over 31 carries for 145 yards over the last four games.

All 5 opponents he has faced have rushing defenses that rank in the lower third of the NFL.

The Bills, however, rank 3rd in the NFL against the run and have held Henry in check in the past.

In three career games, Henry has just 191 rushing yards and 3 TDs on 50 attempts. That is an average of 3.82 YPC.

That includes 57 yards on 19 carries and 2 TDs a year ago.

This makes for an interesting dynamic, as the Titans offense runs so heavily through Henry, who hasn't had success against the Bills defense, which is now better than maybe others he has faced in the past.

Hobbled WR Duo

One of the biggest splashes of the NFL offseason was Tennessee trading for Julio Jones.

So far that move has really yet to pay dividends.

Jones has 12 receptions for 204 yards on 18 targets in three games. He has missed the last two with a hamstring injury, though is expected to make his return Monday night.

His running mate A.J. Brown's also been dinged up, battling through a hamstring injury as well that kept him out a game a few weeks ago.

While he returned to action last game, it was on a limited snap count, seeing the field for 41 plays, just 64%. Brown said this week that the team plans to continue to have him on a limited snap count for now.

If Brown is being held back a bit, it's reasonable to wonder if Jones will find himself in the same boat?

Chester Rogers has been the other WR option as those two battle injury, grabbing 13 catches for 170 yards and a TD.

Tennessee overall ranks 26th in the NFL in passing offense, averaging 221.4 yards per game.

The Heat is On

Ryan Tannehill hasn't been great this season, but he hasn't gotten much help either.

That really is true from his offensive line.

Tannehill's been sacked 20 times, most in the NFL. The Bills defense is tied for 5th in the league with 14 sacks. We know they've gotten to the QB a variety of ways.

Last week, it was all about just the front four producing pressure. The Dolphins game was more about heavy blitzing from all levels, including the secondary.

McDermott reitereated this week that all games are won or lost in the trenches.

Certainly feel like the point of attack will be really in focus Monday night between keep Henry contained and getting after Tannehill whenever Tennessee chooses to throw it.

Feature of the Week

Spencer Brown has been one of the surprises from the Bills first quarter or so of the season.

The 3rd round pick out of UNI really caught my attention last week when talking about his hometown of Lenox, Iowa.

I sat down with Brown this week to learn more about how this small town guy is already trying to be an example of hope for those just like he was growing up.

Prediction

Bills win 31-14

Just like a week ago, the Bills return to the setting of a tough loss and completely flip the script. Allen and the passing offense once again slice and dice, with Diggs leading the way. The Bills formula against Henry continues to work, with Tannehill turning the ball over a few times. Buffalo covers, but their defense keeps this thing comfortably under.
