LATHAM, N.Y. -- A Grand Opening for a gym geared toward children with autism and developmental delays is held in Latham.

Ring Around the Spectrum, a sensory gym that offers a safe, fun and inclusive environment for children and their families, opened Saturday.

The facility offers a variety of equipment, such as swings and a rock climbing wall.

Seeing the way that people react to their two son's special needs is what motivated husband and wife, Abbe and Ken Roberts to open Ring Around the Spectrum.

"We looked at each other one day and said we need a place in this area, for this kids where they can go, where they can have fun and not be judged where they can play with kids who don't have any special needs," Abbe said.

Though it is equipped for children with autism and developmental delays, Ring Around the Spectrum is open to everyone. Abbe hopes that the gym will bridge a gap between children with or without special needs.
