With more than 7,000 confirmed cases of the flu in New York State, Governor Cuomo has declared a disaster declaration.

Cuomo signed an executive order to expand access to the flu vaccine on Thursday. This will allow pharmacists to give flu shots to kids as young as two years old.

This week's reported flu cases were the highest since reporting began in 2004.

The state also broke its old record for number of hospitalizations with more than 1,700.
