VOORHEESVILLE, N.Y. -- It's a new era in the village of Voorheesville as community members are teaming up to build a new playground.

The old Creative Playground was built about 25 years ago and it was time to start fresh.

Through fundraising, the Friends of Voorheesville Playground were able to raise $200,000 to make the new playground possible.

And this weekend is a round of Community Build Days to get people from all over the village together to help out.

"This is parents coming together to form a committee. My daughter wanted this fixed on the old playground. She was told it was not able to be fixed, and the playground was built in 1991, and we were told that we had to get rid of the old playground. And the new one's up, so, that's how it began. Parents, community members, and we're all here today to do it together,” Jaime Chismark said.

Also on Saturday, the transportation department will be holding a job fair to help attract new drivers. If you're interested in becoming a driver you'll even have a chance to drive a school bus that day.
