Bloody fur, scabs and open wounds paint a torturous picture of a dog found abandoned in Montgomery County over the weekend.

Amsterdam animal control found Ted, a four-year-old pit bull mix, tied to a stop sign on Route 5 and Truax Road on Saturday. Montgomery County SPCA Shelter Manager Anthonio Baker said Ted was underweight, covered in fleas and ticks and missing hair.

He said Ted's condition was among the worst he's seen.

“Speechless, one that someone could let this go on unaddressed, the fleas and the ticks, the infections all over his body," Baker said.

Ted was taken to a veterinarian by the SPCA and is now on medication. He's in good spirits and is expected to recover in two months.
