No description available.

In Central New York, we have a Winter Storm Warning that continues this afternoon. As much as 12 inches of total snow accumulation will fall near Syracuse to the foothills of the Adirondacks.

The Southern Tier likely will see total accumulations of up to 2 inches with up to a tenth of an inch of ice accretion.

Across the North Country, Winter Storm Warnings have been posted. There, heavy wet snow will continue to come down. Anywhere from 8 - 18 inches of accumulation will occur.

This afternoon, most of the wintry weather will be over. Behind the mess, we'll be left with temperatures in the 30s along with a northerly breeze and cloud cover. Sunday, it's back to a partly sunny sky, a northerly breeze and highs in the mid-to-upper 30s for most, with lower 30s in the North Country.

Capital Region

Winter Storm Alerts are posted for the higher terrain locally and in the mountains through Saturday night.

Heavy snow arrives after dark for most and continues for part of Saturday.

Saturday morning looks messy with a transition from snow and sleet to periods of cold rain. That's especially true for those in the Capital Region and points south and east where temperatures will rise above freezing. The Saratoga region could see a mix of snow and sleet with the Adirondacks staying in a heavy, wet snow through the entire event as temperatures stay near or below freezing.

While the valleys in and around Albany only see up to a few inches of snow, areas north of thruway in the hills and mountains will see double digit snow totals.

Ice accretion will be as much as two tenths of an inch.

Hudson Valley and Catskills

In southeastern New York, expect mainly heavy rain through Saturday evening.

Rainfall amounts will be on the order of 2-3 inches with the highest amounts across the Lower Hudson Valley. Skies will clear later this evening.
