PITTSFORD, N.Y. — One of the largest annual yard sales is happening at St. Louis Church in Pittsford the next several days. Volunteers for Saint's Place ministry are hoping to raise as much money as possible to help refugees in Rochester.

There are more than 25,000 items for sale at Saint's Place 20th Super Sale and the community donated everything. Every dollar made at the sale goes to Saint's Place Ministry for Refugees.

Saint's Place helps people like Lisbet Aquilera who moved here 10 months ago from Cuba with her mom and four-year-old brother.

"It was a big change for me," Aquilera said. "It was difficult because it is a different culture and rules. They gave me furniture and they give me clothes for winter and that was a good thing."

Anastasiia Danylyshyn, 19, barely spoke any English when she moved to Rochester from the Ukraine two years ago. She's now a student at MCC and wants to be a nurse. Saint's Place helped furnish her family's apartment and bought her a laptop for school.

"It was really helpful because we did not have money to spend on and it is really great how poeple donate and help others who are new to the country, so it's really great," Danylyshyn said.

Saint's Place hopes to get as many shoppers in the doors as possible through Saturday.

They're hoping to raise more than $100,000.
