Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon will not mandate indoor mask wearing for those who are fully vaccinated, he said Monday.

During a press briefing, he said last week's CDC guidance that fully vaccinated Americans wear masks indoors in some cases is only based off of new cases and doesn't take other factors into account like hospitalizations.

But there is an exception. Masks must be worn inside senior care facilities.

Despite the recent uptick in cases, the county executive is trying to keep things in prospective.

Meanwhile, the county is threatening penalties for those who don't cooperate with COVID-19 investigators. McMahon says cooperating with these investigators is key to stopping the spread of the virus.
