For two months, Justin’s Canine Campus in Liverpool shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Once they reopened, they didn’t miss a beat thanks to the staff and a unique pair that runs it all.

Justin Bonn has a dream job. His days are filled with slobbery kisses, wagging tails, and of course, belly rubs for his four-legged friends at his canine campus.

“Those moments where you’re in command of that kind of a group of chaos, it can be extremely rewarding," said Bonn.

It's both rewarding and challenging for Justin, who hosts about 70 pupperinos per day at his doggie day care. Fortunately, while he’s taking care of man’s best friend, he has his best friend right by his side. Carrie Lindley is Justin’s wife. They’ve been together for about 10 years and they have one major thing in common: a passion for pooches.

“These dogs become part of our family. It’s not just our dogs coming in. these are all of our dogs," Lindley said.

The Canine Campus isn’t just a daycare. Justin has also been a dog trainer for over 20 years, and thankfully, a very difficult dog is the reason he met Carrie.

“I held a meet the trainer event on the weekend and actually Carrie was one of the first people that came in that day to ask me some questions about her crazy dog that looked like a black lab but was actually half coon hound and half retriever. The dog was crazy. Still is. We still have her," Bonn said.

Now the dynamic duo has four dogs of their own and a Canine Campus that’s filled with furry friends every day.

“Our wait list is well over a year and a half long. I’m telling people two years," Lindley said.

The computer screen is filled with appointments and training sessions that Carrie keeps track of. She said she’s more of the business manager. Justin on the other hand is the team mentor. He’s a “go big or go home” type of guy.

“I dream big and she has to reel me in and tell me that we can only do one or two of those things that I threw at her," Bonn said.

As Justin points to photos of pups he’s taken care of in the past, he talks about his next dream, and that’s to get a bigger building so he can take care of more dogs in the future. With Carrie by his side, that dream shouldn’t take long to become a reality.
