Showing the town of Manlius Police Department that they have support.

That was the message behind a rally Saturday, planned by the Greater Manlius Police Appreciation Coalition.

Organizers lined up some local speakers, reiterating how important local departments are.

The group saying communities should be focusing on increasing training and support for police departments.

"There's a lot going on in the world right now, a lot that needs to change. But from a standpoint of supporting our local officers, who do a very, very good job, I think this is an important thing to do," said Greater Manlius Police Appreciation Coalition member John Loeffler.
