A store that just opened in Fulton may be new, but it already has a lot of history.

Aldi is the first development on the Nestle Factory lot since closing in 2003.  Planning for the grocery store went on for two years before finally opening Tuesday.

The parking lot was full for its first day. Mayor Ron Woodward Sr. thinks it's great for people to see business back in the area.

"I think it's good for the people of Fulton mentally, but I also think it's good business for Fulton," he said. "They're hiring people, and we don't have a grocery store on the East Side; now we do."

The official ribbon cutting for the store will be on January 11.
