YORKVILLE, N.Y. --  According to state police, Heather Mishlanie, 41, remains on life support after an apartment fire in Oneida County on Thursday.

Her daughter, Taylor Mishlanie, 7, was pronounced dead.

Officials say the two were inside an upstairs apartment on Campbell Avenue in Yorkville when it caught fire.

Both were pulled from the apartment by firefighters and rushed to St. Luke's Hospital.

Crews say they had to back off from the scene after the roof collapsed. No firefighters were injured.

Taylor was a student at Marcy Elementary in the Whitesboro School District, where counseling is being made available.

Attorney Scott McNamara says his office is working with State Police on the investigation into the fire's cause. State Fire investigators are also looking into the cause.
