With the inspiration of the U.S. Curling Team's Olympic win, teams from across the U.S. are striving to win a weekend curling competition in Whitesboro.

The 134-year old Gordon International Bonspiel starts Thursday and continues through Saturday. Teams from the U.S. and Canada are playing in a competition consisting of friendly and competitive matches. Each country has 20 teams competing.

The bonspiel is being held at the Utica Curling Club.  It is the 26th time the club has hosted the competition.

"We're one of the oldest ones running. We're very proud to host it this year. It's our 150th anniversary. We're actually running this in connection with Rochester- there's two clubs- so we're splitting games between the two facilities which means there's a lot of traveling but folks seem pretty accommodating about that," said site coordinator Brian Moore.

Anyone interested in watching this weekend's games can go by the Utica Curling Club this weekend.

The  games will be played Thursday, March 15 from 6:00 pm until 10:30 pm, Friday, March 16, 8:00 am until 5:30 pm and Saturday, March 17, 9:00 am until 1:30 pm. Several of the matches for this years Gordon Medal will also be played at the Rochester Curling Club.
