A year has passed since the death of 18-year-old Seth Collier, who was killed in a hit-and-run crash. His family and friends gathered in Syracuse on Friday to celebrate his life.

Collier's mother and father organized a memorial balloon release, held at the corner of Bear and Salina streets, where Collier was hit.

With the recent release of the surveillance video of Peter Rauch the night of the crash, Collier's mother says she hopes it will open people's eyes.

"And you know I'm like, 'You know what I want people to look at?' I want people to look at this guy out having a couple drinks, having a good time, and then thinking, 'That's me.' You know what, and then maybe they'll think before they'll get behind a wheel," said Collier's mother, Lisa Purvis.

Loved ones also wrote messages on their balloons for Collier.
