ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Nearly $50,000 in county funding is going to new library initiatives.

They include a Books for Babies Program, where a free book is given to every Oneida County newborn.

Another intiative focuses on increasing libraries' collections of e-Books and digital audio books.

And the third is going toward buying books to be used and distributed to local youth as part of summer reading programs.

"It's a positive impact because not everyone has immediate proximity, location to a public library. So basically it's outreach," said Mid York Library System Executive Director Wanda Bruchis.

The funding was made possible through gaming revenue collected as part of the Oneida Nation settlement agreement.
