A five-car pile-up that injured two people in Weedsport remains under investigation.

It happened near the intersection of State Route 34 and Bentley School Road around 8:00 a.m. on Thursday.

There was an initial report that a woman was trapped in a vehicle that caught fire, but she was able to get out by the time crews arrived.

Officials are still looking into what caused the crash -- but say bad road conditions may have been a factor.

"Even though it's April, we're in Central New York, it could be snowing in May,” said Weedsport Fire Chief David James. “The road conditions don't change so you know I hope people pay attention a little more."

The road was reduced to one lane as crews cleared the scene.
