Jefferson Community College welcomes their sixth president.

Dr. Ty Stone was officially inaugurated Friday. She was appointed by the SUNY Board of Trustees in May, and began working as president in July.

This comes after Carole McCoy announced her retirement, serving as president of JCC for the last 10 years.

The goal of the ceremony was "honoring the past, challenging the present and creating the future."

“Really understanding the past here and what we've done and the significant role we've played,” said Stone. “We have a really challenging present though. We understand that higher education is changing and shifting. So we have to do some challenging of that so we can create the future."

Stone plans to push for more skilled based programs for the North Country community to utilize in the workforce.
