A mother is looking for answers from the Syracuse City School District after she says her son was attacked by a police officer.

Liza Acquah attended a PTO meeting at Nottingham High School Thursday night.

Surveillance video that was released shows Acquah's son, Jabari Boykins, walking down the hallway moments before he gets into a fight with Officer Vallon Smith.

In the initial police report Officer Smith claimed Boykins attacked him, but Boykins' lawyer says the video shows Smith attacking his client first and leaving him with a broken arm and split lip.

Acquah is suing the police department for $12 million.

She came to Thursday's meeting to voice her concerns, which she says extend beyond the department.

"I want to talk to this board so we can work together so this doesn't happen to any other child in this school, or any school in Syracuse, period," said Liza Acquah.

Cameras were not allowed into the meeting, and no one from the PTO commented.
