ORISKANY, N.Y. -- Another intense Tactical Week came to an end at the State Preparedness Training Center in Oriskany.

Eight tactical teams from across the state have been busy training and competing at the Center, which has simulated environments including a city.

The Center hosts exercises throughout the year, and they're never quite the same.

One was called, "Operation Officer Take Back." In it, teams had to rescue an undercover officer being held hostage.

Police said as times change, so does training.

"Sitting in a police car before, we really weren't worried about that because we were in a secure area that we thought was secure and now unfortunately, with the officers that are getting killed, we've got to expand on that and we're not as safe as we thought we were. So we have to be more in-tune with our environment when we're out working," said Rome Police Department Lieutenant Mark Liddy.

The State Preparedness Center is in its 12th year of operation.
