Family, friends and members of law enforcement paid their respects to an Albany police officer killed in an off-duty motorcycle crash last week. A funeral was held Tuesday for 25-year-old Dean Johnson at the Church of Saint Mary.

State Police say the officer was killed in an off-duty motorcycle crash in the town of Knox on July 4.

The 25-year-old joined the force in 2017 and graduated from the academy about two months ago, in May.

Johnson previously worked for Senator Jim Tedisco, who attended Tuesday's services.

"The world lost a great person," Tedisco said. "The only saving grace is that he got to live his dream for a while, which was to be a police officer, a law enforcement officer."

Johnson will be laid to rest in Rockland County.
