Crews made quick work of a house fire on Syracuse's east side.

They were called to the 600 block of Hazelwood Avenue around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. They found a shed in flames between two homes.

Nobody was home at the time, and the damage didn't go beyond the exterior.

"Anytime we have extension to that extent where the siding is melted off, we got to get in there and make sure that it didn’t get into any of the living spaces, which luckily it did not," said Syracuse Fire District Chief Colin Duffy.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
