Extreme temperatures are being blamed for the collapse of a sidewall on a railroad bridge in Syracuse last week.

The City of Syracuse released new footage from a police camera on Friday of the incident.

Two cars stopped at a red light along South Clinton Street. They pull away just moments before the concrete comes down, scattering debris in the road.

Nobody was hurt during the collapse.

The mayor's office now says they've heard from engineers with New York Susquehanna & Western. They believe the collapse was caused by thermal expansion of the concrete and steel, due to intense heat over the past few weeks.

The rail company is removing all remaining sections of sidewall on that bridge. That work is expected to continue through Sunday.

The company is also inspecting its other bridges throughout the city.
